Page Thirtyfive
Running pretty behind, so I’m going to put up the black and white page. Will update once it’s in color.
Marcus is, of course, being played by a variety of cats for, uh… animal rights reasons. Yes.
I need to make a category on the site for non-storyline comics, really.
I got a feeling that Delia is going to hear about more creepy Dr. Schtein facts regardless.
I love the way you ink, it make everything so much more graphic :0
I love how hardened Marcus looks in the second panel, you expect him to whip out a cigar or something haha! And you did an awesome job with Delia’s face in the last panel, sooo uncomfortable
The best part about Schtein is the way he can be a creepy lecher and huggably adorable at the same time. Seeing him hide behind that clipboard blushing is perfection
Delia’s earrings are missing again. :D
I liked the extra comic, you draw the best expressions.
dumb comic? That was hilarious!
Ooh! Yes, Marcus! *I* want to hear every lurid detail of the childhood that twisted our Dear Disturbed Doctor!
… a bit sad that Dr. Schtein shares all this with his retarded mutated cat.
I picture him drunk: “Marcus! Marcus. We’re out of ice. Do you know what my mother did to me with ice? For hours on end? Just for forgetting to put the eggs back in the fridge? My god, Marcus. But now she knows the pain of ice. Every day. In the freezer I store her body in. Oh Marcus. I gotta puke. Where’s the wastebasket?!!”
I picture him sober: “Marcus. You know, my parents never loved me. Sure, you could argue they had a… fondness for me, or should I say an… obsession. I mean, when a parent wants their child to be perfect in every way, how could some part of that not be love? Love. Bah. My mother would have loved me more if I were a girl. My body was never pretty enough for mommy. My disposition was never sweet enough for mommy. I don’t even know anymore if I did it on purpose just to get punished. I started to enjoy being “a typical male” just to get her to yell at me. In yelling, Marcus, we find passion, and passion is the cornerstone of love. Punishment was the only form of caring I got. Look, Marcus! A sign of her affection! I can pop this shoulder out like a damn ball clasp because of the number of times she yanked it out of its socket! Because it was gangly! A gangly boy arm! Oh Marcus. I gotta puke. Where’s the wastebasket?!!”
Meanwhile, Marcus, his small brain slowly becoming more and more cognizant, is exposed to these rantings. I can’t imagine his response. Other than scrambling for a wastebasket.
I wonder what that extra gauge on the dashboard is.
geiger counter.
THAT IS SO AWESOME!
I am so in love with your inking. Do you do that on paper or in the computer?
Inking is my eternal nemesis…
Also, I found it hilarious that in this universe, people are fleeing TO Mexico.
I do the whole thing digitally. I’m afraid I don’t have a scanner. :C
hah!! this is the first time i get to comment, hell yeah!! i loved that thing you drew. i saw it in DA just yesterday, and i laughed so hard at herville.
oh, shoot. i think i sent my comment twice by accident. sorry!
“…it looked really weird.” What an understatement. o_O
Love the inking, though. It’s strange that this is amazing, colored or not!
And I agree with Eddy: It was f*cking hilarious. :D
One of the great things about your style is how effective it is in black and white. In fact, I was disappointed when Chapter 2 replaced B&W with color, although I’ve warmed up to your fine coloring job now.
That dislocating-of-the-arm thing looks like a gun on the shelf. Are we going to see some awesome escape scenes soon? CB
Oh I love the colours on the third panel, great job! They’re really fitting for these wasteland landscapes.
Love that extra comic! Awwwww. XD
Lovely scenery on panel 3! And hey, you do awesome linework (saw this page before you colored it!). Do you work digitally or traditionally when doing your lin eart? I want to try out digital inking for my comic but it seems a bit hard to get right. :U
It’s all digital. I use old-ass Open Canvas because I like the line quality I can get out it. But you can also get excellent line quality out of photoshop if you work super huge and use the pencil tool (unfortunately my computer cannot handle this).
It is hard to get right. I undo and redo most lines like three or four times before I get it right. D:
Whoa, oC, really? Sweet! It sure can bring awesome line quality! :) And I remember the program is small enough to bring on an USB – and to have lovely sketch-chat sessions with!
I have problems with making lines look smooth in photo shop. I use the brush tool. I should try the pencil tool! Thanks for all the info and tips! Will probably try out oC again too!
I wanna hear! D<!! You're right, she's totes not nosy enough. Poor Doc, though. No wonder he's all fucked up and hates touching people. I'D hate touching people if all the touching previously was all… y'know. Bad. Or drunken babymaking one night stands.
I. Freaking. Love. Marcus.
I’ve been wondering all week if there’s a special little story behind those beads hanging in the mirror.
Well, that’s easy: One of Delia’s numerous former boyfriends has been a driver of a pizza-taxi.
Now, this is just a hunch, but I think maybe Schtein’s mom didn’t like him much.
