Laurence is not interested in whatever anyone has to offer.
Awesome new page. Poor guy; never say no to someone that is a) not used to being said no to; and b) powerful and/or has anger issues.
Weird compliment, but I like that their teeth are off-white. Haha
Aww, poor Laurence…His face in the last panel is glorious! Haha, I love it.
Traded sex for an eyeball… I wonder if he regrets that.
Less so that going for it; her daddy wouldn’t necessarily have aååreciated it, should he have found out.
Aww poor soul didn’t want to be raped… D:
And mysterious tatoo is mysterious!
Mind powers! Mysterious tattoo! Things are really getting intense now, huh?
Question: What’s your policy on fanfiction? Because I kind of wrote a Phineas/Schtein slash fic at the urging of some of the people over at /coq/ (String Theory is developing quite the fandom) and I can’t help but wonder what the creator thinks about people slashing her characters.
I hope I depicted Phineas as suitably crazy. And as always, I can’t wait for the next page!
My policy is go ahead, whatever, it doesn’t bother me. That’s just what people do on this ol’ internet.
But I can’t read fanfictions, unfortunately. Most content creators won’t, and I understand the reasons they won’t, so I’ve taken this policy myself. Sorry about that. :C
Also, sorry I had to edit out the url, but the content you’re linking to is probably not, uh… Well, I’m assuming it’s graphic because of the subject, and yeah…
Out of curiosity, what are the reasons creators won’t read fanfictions?
There is a potential for legal entanglement when fanfiction storypoints coincide with the canon. link to boards.straightdope.com
I have a writer friend who outright asked fans not to write fanfiction, so for authors who are more lenient, they have to do certain amount of self-protective measures – my guess is that’s at least one reason not to read fanfiction of their own works. Beckey can explain more.
This is pretty much exactly it. I wouldn’t want anyone to think I’m ganking ideas from fans, so the best thing to do entirely is just avoid reading things like that.
It already makes me nervous enough when people guess where the story’s going or character points in the comments, because sometimes (and I’ll never tell you when it happens) people guess correctly. I’d hate to think that anyone would ever think I’m taking cues from the comments or whatever. I try to make it clear that I’m working from a set script that I don’t make very many alterations to. And I’m working from an outline I wrote two years ago, to boot.
Not that I think anyone would claim that I was stealing plot points of characterizations, but it’s best to go ahead and be careful so your ass is covered.
Depends on the person. I wouldn’t because then I couldn’t stop thinking about it //eheheh// Or it could ruin a character (No offense but I’ve lost characters to bad fanfic) ect ect…,
Ahahaha, that’s fine, I just hope I didn’t creep you out or anything.
And I’m curious, too: why don’t most creators read fics?
No, not at all. I used to write fanfiction a long time ago. Whatevs. I’m glad you’re not mad that I editted out the url, I didn’t want to offend you with that. D:
There’s a link up above that goes into a lot of reasons people won’t read fanfiction of their own properties link to boards.straightdope.com
I don’t know how true the story is with the fantasy author, but it does bring up many good points on the matter.
You perfectly convey the awkwardness of sheathing a 10 inch hunting knife while seated in a car next to the dude you just threatened to kill.
Who would want to sex that–NAIL– guy I mean he’s cute but COME ON–NAIL– He needs a good woman his age v.v–NAIL– And that NNNNAAAAIIIIILLLL….. //cries forever//
It’s the eye patch. Chicks dig eye patches.
That wouldn’t work. She GAVE him the NEED for the eye patch.
Yeah, he didn’t have the eyepatch when she was hitting on him. Hahah. :Y
I think he got the eyepatch BECAUSE she was hitting on him. With a knife :U
It is disgusting.
hey, the nail’s temporary, I’m sure it’ll be gone in a week or so.
I took me well over a month to get rid of mine. (caught in a door)
It was probably his charming personality and excellent fashion sense, then.
Meant to be a reply to “That wouldn’t work. She GAVE him the NEED for the eye patch.”
Oh, and question for Beckey: How tall are the characters? Schtein seems to be on the short side, but everyone could just be tall, I suppose.
Dr. Schtein’s 5’11”. Average height. I just keep making other characters too tall.
Jayjay is shorter than him, though, and so is Delia.
Tallest character right now is Phineas, Laurence is slightly shorter than him.
Shortest character is Marcus, looool. :D
I’m glad be undid his scarf in the last page. He’s not very menacing to begin with and the ascot around his neck wouldn’t have helped.
Also the ‘I can kill you with a thought,’ line reminded me of Eddie Izzard’s Death Star Canteen sketch, and cracked me the hell up.
Your Twitter feed really gave me a laugh…especially since I saw the weird escape/murdering ideas first before the line, “man, drawing the backseat of a car is super easy. Rest of the comic’s gonna be in the backseat of a car. ” IT SLAYED ME.
I love kind of this techno HL2 blue color you’ve got, it kinda adds to the idea that this is yo’ G-Man’s realm, and Laurence is out of his depth.
Why can’t I remember your G-Man’s name. Gosh.
Dude’s got huge nostrils.
kevin’s back, and his art keeps evolving more and more. I also like the fact that these characters have “off white” teeth, not everyone has perfect pearly whites damnit!
damn, i discovered string theory today and have just read the whole thing up to date, this comic’s excellent, i love the story arc so far, keep up the good work i’ll definatly be waiting on the next instalment :).
