I could really go for a big plate of homefries myself right now, actually
PS the best topping for them isn’t ketchup or whatever, it’s lemon juice
I’m gonna have to try that lemon juice trick next time I eat homefries! (I also like lime juice on those cheap little bean-n-rice green Del Taco soft tacos). (Lime juice also perks up canned tomato soup, but maybe that’s just me).
Great to have you back!
Well, if you’re not one for meat it isn’t a possibility, but meat sauce & hot sauce together make a great topping for homefries. Although I may be biased, having eaten garbage plates for years.
I’m not really a big meat person myself but crumbled up crispy bacon would be good
No, you have them with a cold pat of butter on the side, use the fork tine to grab a small bit with each homefry. That is a mixed Southern and New England treat trick.
That makes me think about cheddar cheese and apple pie, and for effs sake ppl, its not a solid block, you shred it first! Dont use pre shred since it has a cellulose powder…. why am I even….
You got me hungry Grundy! For comics and homefrys and apple pie and…….
cheese and apple pie just isn’t a thing here in texas so I’ve never had it. I’m a little dubious about it being good but I’d try it anyway
Ah, man. Now I really want some fried potatoes. Maybe with some ketchup on the side for half of them. That one panel is too powerful in its ways of suggestion. Hope you had an awesome vacation, by the way.
Dill yogurt sauce for me :)
that actually sounds really good
Considering all of Schtein’s self-destructive habits, it seems strange he’d give a shit about vitamin deficiencies.
If you tell people you are a vegan the first thing out of their mouths will be fake concern over you getting enough vitamins. I don’t know if he ACTUALLY cares.
But you really do have to watch out for your B12.
…and the people most likely to be watching their vitamins and minerals are going to be people cutting foods out of their diet by choice (as a general rule).
I’m less weirded out by the fact he’s eating a big plate of potatoes than the fact Doc’s not wearing his gloves while eating at a strange diner. Who knows how those forks were cleaned!
I’ve only had lemon on street vendor potato chips, somehow using that on an actual potato dish seems weird to me.
(And my family gives me crap for eating french fries with pepper on them.)
he always takes his gloves off to eat. Try using a fork while wearing gloves, it’s uh, a challenge.
lemon on potato chips sounds weird because they’d get all soggy but I’d be down with the flavor, I do love those salt and vinegar chips
Didn’t you just say you’re in Texas? What about those wheel-shaped deep fried chips that you squeeze fresh lime juice on? They do get instantly soggy, but it’s SO delicious.
I’ve somehow never had duros. they sound really good though
If you have potatoes and any form of dairy, you’ve got all the nutrients needed to sustain human life. You can even get away with no source of dairy if you sun-dry the potatoes properly.
Try this… home fries (or French fries) with cheese and brown gravy on them, with a glass of water with lemon. Poutine!
Okay I’m gonna have to step into this conversation. Not any kind cheese. You need cheese crumbs. Anything else and it’s not the same.
I thought it was cheese curds. or is crumbs another name for that
No you’re right. It’s cheese curds. It’s just that I’m not a native english speaker so I didn’t know what to call them exactly. Still you know what we’re talking about.
Love the diner! I eat regularly at a place that echos your art. I like home fries with ketchup and black pepper, haven’t tried lemon…but Greek potatoes, with lots of lemon and garlic are a favorite- so probably would like them. One restaurant locally serves them with blackened bits of pepper and onion, also really good.
did it used to be a pizza hut, too? that’s basically what I drew. I love when places are really obviously just repurposed fast food joints. there’s a lot of taquerias in my home town that used to be pizza huts or wendy’s
I don’t think so- it’s one of two by the same name- the other one was a fish joint first I think….. not sure, it’s always been this since i moved to OH 10 years ago
Boil em, Mash em, Stikkaminnastoo.
For some reason up until the blue haired guy said about the girlfriend I assumed it to be a tomboy girl…
I’d suggest you not use that as some sort of gender reveal criteria in the future. It will lead to problems.
Anyway, Jen is a masculine nonbinary person.
