Herville rhymes with serval. It’s probably real hard to make songs about him.
I’m getting this vibe that Jen wants to transition, or soon will. Jenkins is a pretty cool name.
How about “Leroy Jenkins”?
She’s not wrong about his name, but Dr Horrible is already taken xD
I mean “he” … or “they” ? Well JEN. I meant Jen
Jen might not want to transition but to walk a line or spectrum :)
jen’s still in that figuring things out stage, so who knows.
I take it the DSM 2-6 versions in this world have prioritized dealing with mental ailments caused by nuclear fallout and a thousand flavors of PTSD then on how best to treat dysphoria, so this society is far behind on this. In ours, I expect full body prosthesis with any gender or no gender chassis you want will be available by then.
It’s a brand new day…
I sense that as well, but I’ve also known plenty of people who despite being cis, and especially when gender non-conforming won’t feel great when you use their “proper” given name. It feels incongruent with their identity. It’s not a strictly trans experience, although typically the topic of respecting one’s chosen name and identity is one typically told when telling Trans stores
I New a girl in Highschool whose brain matched her body, as far as I know, but LOATHED her given name, “Paula”. When I innocently asked why, she threatened me! She was aggressive to anyone who broached the subject for any reason. However, her nickname, “Cricket”, she was happy to talk about, how her grandmother gave it to her because of a cute sound she used to make. I later learned that she was in the process of having her name legally changed to “Cricket”. I heard a rumor from someone who knew her a little better that she might have hated her name because her father had named her and later abused her, but I never found out for certain. The line between nature and nurture is a manifold sculpter of identity that can take a whole lifetime to explore:
“The SELF is more distant, then any star.”, G.K. Chesterton
With his reaction to Jen not wanting to be called “Jennifer” and his response to not wanting to be called by his own name, I would have been snarky or something. Just be like “What? It’s your name.” Too be fair, I’m not a huge fan of my own name though that’s mostly because people keep mispronouncing it.
Listen, kids, here’s a song about Herville
Who fucked up just a few times
And those of you who can’t tell weed from chervil
Just get down to these sick rhymes
Now Herville, Herville was a real smart guy
But also as dumb as a kid on paint
Just a couple crossed wires, and things go away
Now all the things he’s made are now ain’t’
Chorus time! Everybody ready? Clap your hands!
Smells like chervil
(Or maybe weed- who knows?)
Herville, Herville, mean as a serval
Where he goes- don’t stay close!
Is it just me or does Doc. have a chipped tooth in panel 4?
he’s had a chipped tooth since chapter 2. he got punched in the face by a man now dead.
Reared this comic, aparently I forgot some things in between updates. Thanks for the clarification.
well at least it gave me the opportunity to quote frasier at someone
I totally forgot about the reason for the chipped tooth as well. Thought it was just a part of the design that came with the change in the art style. I really like all the little details that make up this comic~
